Physcially, the lacrosse balls are made of the same material and have exactly the same dimensions, density and coefficient of restitution (how bouncy they are).

Traditionally Womens lacrosse usually use Yellow balls, Mens lacrosse uses White balls, and mixed lacrosse uses Orange. In practical terms, clubs often field all 3 types of team and thus the balls are used interchangably.

However, World Lacrosse & England Lacrosse rules state that Womens must use a solid Yellow ball, Mens a White, Yellow or Orange. There are no requirements for England Mixed Lacrosse, except that it must be of a solid colour.

Lacrosse balls are made of a solid rubber construction which makes them perfect for working out knots in muscles. Items such a ping pong balls or tennis balls fail to exert the pressure needed to properly tease out knots.

When used correctly, lacrosse balls can offer many of the same benefits as a sports massage, such as increased range of motion, reduced stiffness and a reduction in pain.

There is a permissable tolerance in the size of lacrosse balls used for match play, but modern methods of manufacture mean that all balls can be the same size, to within the same millimeter.

They have a diameter of 6.47cm, and thus a circumfrence of 20.32cm. In freedom units, this corresponds to 2.55″ and 8″ respectively.

The desired weight of a Lacrosse Ball is 145 grams. This allows for tolerance of a gram either side, as to remain compliant with World Lacrosse specifications.

The two are linked. If you are experiencing pain, you should consult a medical healthcare professional.

Myo refers to muscle, and fascia refers to the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs in the body. It is akin to the casing around a sausage and needs to be able to flex and allow the muscles inside it to move freely.

Poor posture, trauma or overuse (repetitive microtrauma) can damage your Myofascial tissue.

A Trigger Point is the shorthand name given to a ‘Trigger Point Complex‘.
Tight or damaged Fascia causes “knots” in the muscle, leading to a reduction in blood supply. The surrounding nerves become irritated and thus send pain signals being sent to the brain. A Trigger Point Complex is band of muscle that contains several of these knots.
